Alan Watts once said that those that identify themselves as the ‘other’ in this case, the mindful ones, are still identifying a difference and thus in this way they still reinforce their ego. Only now its a different ‘template’ as you put it, wearing a spiritual skin.

What’s worth recognising are many of those you mention are asleep. Unaware of the difference between the ego and existence. Unaware of the trap or the template they identify with. These creatures must awaken before they can understand that they have a choice to grow and unravel into the abyss of being-ness.

I agree with you, detachment is beautiful, but it is also scary and requires curiosity and strong will. A willingness to jump into the abyss and relinquish yourself from all forms of identification and embody all that is. Nothing-ness.
